The UN approaches a possible therapeutic regulation of cannabis, although Spain insists that there is no scientific evidence

"Historic" day for medical cannabis. In a long-awaited decision by the sector, the UN has changed its position and sixty years after placing it on the list of most harmful drugs, it removes it and admits that it does have therapeutic properties. Medical users of the plant celebrate the change of status, although they are cautious because they know the reluctance of the Ministry of Health with the regulation. The UN decision, after a vote in the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND) in Vienna, puts the Spanish government in a bind, which just three months ago answered the PNV that if it rejects a regulation is because it is not scientifically proven that the plant has medicinal properties. It so happens that while defending that position here, the Government supports the opposite in Vienna, following the common policy of the EU, which voted en bloc in favor of easing the pressure on cannabis and admits its medical effects.
