The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) participates in the organization of Days of the Protected Natural Space of La Isleta. This is an initiative carried out by the Confite sports club, which will be held on the 4th and 5th of October at the Elder Museum of Science and Technology of the Gran Canaria capital.
Likewise, the main objective of the meeting is to highlight the value of this landscape that is endowed with a high ecological sensitivity. In addition, another of the purposes is to inform of their patrimonial resources and to instill to the citizenship the respect for the territory.
The days will be organized in two days. Following this line, different talks and debates will be held by researchers and professors of the academic institution, including the professor of Physics José Mangas, who will give a lecture entitled The geological importance of El Confital beach, and the biology professor Pilar García Jiménez, who will star in a talk entitled Unraveling the mysteries of red algae.

The Protected Landscape of La Isleta constitutes a representative sample of the main natural systems and of the different terrestrial and marine habitats most characteristic of the Archipelago. It also hosts a great biological diversity of flora and fauna that give this natural scenery spectacular beauty and great cultural value.
