The University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) once again occupies a prominent position in the CWUR international ranking, standing at the position 1,161 close up of 20,000 universities of all the world. This means that the ULPGC is among the top 5.9% in the 2021-22 edition of the “Global 2000 List of the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR)”.
This same prominent position had been registered by the ULPGC in the two previous editions. The indicators used in this classification refer to the Quality of education, job of alumni, quality of faculty and performance of the investigation, mainly research articles in top-level journals and citations received.
In this edition, 19,788 universities have been classified and the ULPGC is ranked 1,161 in the world, 434 in Europe and 42 in Spain out of the more than 80 existing Spanish universities.
The first university in the world ranking is Harvard, followed by MIT and Stanford University, the three in the United States. The first European are Cambridge and Oxford in positions 4 and 5 in the world. The first Spanish university is the University of Barcelona, which occupies position 131 in the world. Followed by the Autónoma de Barcelona (186 in the world) and the Complutense de Madrid (247 in the world). Of the more than 80 Spanish universities, this ranking only includes 53 universities.
The Center for World University Rankings-Center for World University Rankings (CWUR) is a consulting organization that provides policy advice, strategic insights and consulting services to governments and universities to improve educational and research outcomes.
Since 2012, CWUR has been publishing the only academic ranking that started as a project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with the goal of ranking the top 100 universities in the world. In 2019, the ranking was expanded to highlight the top 2,000 universities worldwide. Since 2016, the Center for World University Rankings has been based in the United Arab Emirates.
