The teaching staff is a fundamental piece in the entire teaching process and holds the key to improving the future of the students. His work, especially at the university level, is key when he shares knowledge and focuses on training, transmits learning and universal values to encourage the creation of professionals. These are the main arguments that have led the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria to award the ‘doctor’ José Manuel Pérez Luzardo, the recognition of excellence in the call ‘Teaching-ULPGC 2018/2019’. The proven track record of Pérez Luzardo in the academic courses taught in the last five years has led the ULPGC to reward this professor given the “teaching quality for exceptional and for being an example of excellence in each and every one of the courses evaluated during his career “, according to the program of the Vice-Rector’s Office for quality of the university institution and signed by Milagros Rico, president of the evaluation commission of the ‘Docentia’ program. This recognition is based on three valued dimensions: the planning of teaching, its development and the results of teaching. Teacher training guides us towards understanding the educational reality, allows us to innovate and insert new techniques into educational ones to avoid being outdated. José Manuel Pérez Luzardo is an architect and has specialized throughout his long career in architectural constructions and building his family. He has supervised half a dozen doctoral theses and has published numerous articles in specialized magazines and is the author of several books on construction.
