The Turrialba volcano of Costa Rica records an eruption of ash and gases

The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (Ovsicori) reported today that the Turrialba volcano made an ash and gas eruption.

"At 07.49 local time (13.49 GMT) there is an eruption in the Turrialba volcano, with a column that rises to 500 meters above the height of the crater," says the Ovsicori report.

The authorities reported that so far no ash fall or smell of sulfur has been reported.

The Turrialba volcano, located about 70 kilometers east of San José, entered into an active phase of greater constancy since October 2014 and since then has presented numerous eruptions of ash, gases and incandescent material.

The colossus has generated ash columns of up to 4,000 meters above the crater and affected populations of the Central Valley due to the fall of material.
