New York, Aug 3 (EFE) .- The Tribeca Film Festival has announced this Tuesday that it will celebrate its next edition, the twenty-first, between June 8 and 19, 2022, establishing itself as an event for the beginning of summer and repeating the mixed formula of indoor and outdoor events that forced the coronavirus.
“We loved opening the summer of 2021 and were very proud to have led the reopening of New York by bringing movies and entertainment to the communities of the five boroughs,” said festival co-founder Jane Rosenthal in a statement.
Rosenthal, who devised the exhibition together with actor Robert De Niro after the 9/11 attack to revitalize the southern part of Manhattan, indicates that, like this year, the 2022 edition will feature events both in indoor venues and in spaces. exteriors to minimize the risk of contagion of covid-19.
“Reflecting on the particular moment we are in, we believe that an indoor / outdoor combination is going to be the most exciting to bring together the international public and our local community in this wonderful city next June,” he said.
The Tribeca Film Festival was held in May in its first 3 years of life, to rotate little by little in mid-April, but the pandemic has forced the contest to move to June after making a completely virtual version in 2020, which had to be organized in a few weeks.
For her part, Paula Weinstein, the content director of Tribeca Enterprises, the company that organizes the event, points out that in 2022 they will look for new ways to enjoy the work of filmmakers and creators in the “list of unparalleled options of theaters, parks, rooftops and other venues that New York has to offer. ”
Tribeca became the first major film festival to once again host in-person events this year, hosting more than 250 film screenings in New York’s five boroughs from June 9-20.
