The general director of the Tax Agency (AEAT), Jesús Gascón, has advanced this Tuesday that the body will have up to 70 different data sources to cross through ‘big data’ techniques to check fictitious taxpayer relocations and check if they really reside abroad. In addition, it expects to be able to resume visits with “full legal guarantees” throughout 2021.

This has been indicated during his appearance before the Finance Commission at his own request to report on the Tax and Customs Control Plan of 2021, in which he stressed that ‘big data’ techniques allow a “more generalized” application in the scope of asset analysis and, consequently, to further detect fictitious relocations of taxpayers to other territories.
Gascón has pointed out that the issue of relocations “has become fashionable lately”, after the controversy over the departure of some ‘youtubers’ and ‘influencers’ to Andorra and other territories with a lower taxation.
In this sense, it has specified that there are currently 2.5 million Spaniards living outside the country, a fact that “must be considered good” as it is generally true, although “fictitious relocations” also occur. On your side, there are about 5 million foreigners residing in Spain.
Faced with the “chaos” of relocations, he has valued the “progress” that involves combining 70 different data sources with the ‘big data’ technique in cases of evidence, which has led him to affirm that the data “is greater than what have never been “in order to have evidence of a possible fictitious relocation.

Gascón also announced this Tuesday that the agency will enable in its mobile application the request for debt deferrals and the payment of the same “in a single click”, while anticipating the launch of its new website in summer to have a only universal service.
The director of the Gascón Tax Agency has explained that the Treasury ‘app’ will adopt new functionalities since it was initially very oriented towards personal income tax, so that it will allow the payment of debts and the request for deferrals “in a single click” without the need of filling in sections, something that he believes will be “very successful” by being “totally revolutionary.”
