Lorca is that older brother that he would have liked so much. A nice man who also knew, how only poets know, tell what happens to us all. This is how Lluís Pasqual sees Federico García Lorca, his eternal companion on the scene and also in life. "It's very close to me, it's that friend that you choose. I feel very calm at your side. Lorca does not impose me, I've always looked at him, "says the playwright, who enters the universe of the poet again The dream of life (Chair), the work with which Alberto Conejero complete the two acts that were left without writing Comedy without title. The show, a brilliant show that navigates between reality and fiction, a violent dream, a social drama that delves into the conflict about truth in the theater and love, is one of the highlights of the events of the Lorca Year , that the Community of Madrid celebrates in tribute to the poet when they celebrate one hundred years of his arrival in the capital. The show, with Nacho Sánchez and Emma Vilarasau at the head of a cast of 16 performers, opens on the 17th at the Spanish Theater, where it will be performed until February 24.

TO Lluís Pasqual (Reus, 1951) was commissioned a long time ago about the poet and ended up writing a book, From the hand of Federico (Harp Publishers), about him and about Lorca. He remembers it now again, at the Café del Teatro Español, at the time of the snack, moments before a rehearsal of The dream of life and with a career in which the poet from Granada has been so present. "The good thing about literature is that you can choose your friends and your brothers over time. I have chosen Federico as my older brother. The difference between a poet and a civilian is that the poet, in this case Lorca, knows how to put words to what happens to us all. He had the mysterious and chemical ability to find some words that are physical, that have perfume inside, "says Pasqual, a man who shies away from nostalgia and who claims to have forgotten his resigned resignation at the head of the Teatre Lliure, after a denunciation by despotism three years ago and the tension and radicality of you procés in Catalonia, which, according to the director, has contaminated the entire environment. "A theater man can not be nostalgic. I've been on the page for a long time and as my life I tell it by shows I've been two since I left the Lliure, this one that I'm about to release and Gypsy romanceWhat did I do with Núria Espert? "

Mil 'federicos'

Alberto Conejero has not tried to end the only act Comedy without title of Lorca. "It will always be a work that will be finished," says the Jaen author, for whom the writing of the two acts that were missing from the text of Lorca is an "exercise of love and admiration" towards the poet from Granada. "I do not paint on a canvas. It is more a dialogue with which I imbue my writing with that of Lorca. It is a text written from .. Comedy without title", Says the author of The dark stone, who answered the inner voice that called him and asked him to rewrite it.

For the author of The Dark Stone, The Dream of Life, which includes the first act written by Lorca, poses clearly what the theater should do before the arrival of these reactionary and populist movements that invade us. "In Comedia without title, the theater opens its doors to the revolutionaries who are in the street, but there are very dark movements," says Conejero, who highlights the tension that is experienced when the walls collapse and people willing to enter end the theater.

Conejero does not believe in the fashions around Lorca. "He is an infinite author. There are a thousand federicos. It is not fortuitous that there is so much Lorca now. It does not obey any ode, but something that happens to us as a country and that, suddenly, we need to go to it to recognize what is happening to us ".

The world continues to yearn for Lorca, it is a star that never goes out, the most represented Spanish playwright on the planet. Pasqual is not surprised. "He is our great poet. It did not become universal for its murder, as it was tried to make believe at first. It is a universal classic because it is adapting to the times and our looks. Every so often, a letter or a drawing or an invoice from a restaurant appears with verses behind and at that moment fifty thousand eyes from thousands of universities around the world are watching it. Everything is sustained. Lorca's words are like coal that look like they are dead and as soon as a little fire is applied they become incandescent. The theater of Lorca portrays our way of being, what hurts us the most, the worst of each one of us ".

And it is in that pain of the words of Lorca, in the destruction of the political use of the theater or in the arrival of the most reactionary and aggressive forces to the institutions, – "Vox's entry into politics is a nightmare," he says. the director – where it hits The dream of life, a montage that includes the first act that is preserved from Comedy without title, work that Pasqual chose 30 years ago to close his stage at the head of the National Drama Center. Today faces a new assembly, less dark, visceral and violent than the then, and with the addition of the two acts written by Alberto Conejero (Jaén, 1978), with which he carried out a version of Medea. "You do not know, but you've written this for me," the director told the author, when he learned that he had completed Comedy without title, the work that Lorca writes shortly before being assassinated, in August of 1936, at the beginning of the Civil War. For Pasqual, the second in the book of Conejero is Lorca, "in the best sense of the word," while the third is "pure Conejero". "Alberto combines a clear inner world and a great classical formation. That makes a writer as earthy as he becomes someone very refined, "explains Pasqual.

There have been many times that Lluís Pasqual has wondered what Lorca would have written if they had not killed him with 38 years. There is no answer for it. "Lorca went to Granada to die. If one takes his dramatic and poetic corpus it is clear that his work is not unfinished. It was like a comet of light that exploded soon. "
