The precipitations and the atmospheric phenomena had their particular protagonism in the South and Southeast of Gran Canaria. A spectacular sea hose or also called a waterspout could be contemplated by neighbors and foreigners during the morning in Mogán. The rains were punctual in certain areas and moments of the day yesterday, and caused the water to circulate in the ravine of El Polvo, in the municipality of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, without any damage or anomalies in the area.
In Ingenio, a 30-year-old woman, of Polish nationality, suffered severe traumatic brain injury, as well as a severe leg injury, when she fell when she dropped at 5 o'clock in the afternoon through La Pasadilla, on the GC-120 road, in a curve and with the wet road.
Initially, the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (Cecoes) -112 activated a medical helicopter of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC). However, the aircraft could not land and evacuate the victim due to the weather conditions, exactly because of the clouds that were in this area of Medianías de Ingenio.
Finally, a medical ambulance of the SUC, escorted by the Local Police, transferred it to the Insular Hospital of Gran Canaria. Agents of the Civil Guard and the Firemen of the Emergency Consortium of Arinaga Park also intervened in this service.
Also in Ingenio, the local police closed the traffic of the road that connects the helmet of the town of Ingenio with the ravine of Guayadeque, also known as the Guayadeque street, due to the possibility of some stone shedding.
In Agüimes, yesterday there was the detachment of stones in Pie de la Cuesta, at the entrance to the town's hull by GC-100, also called Hermanos La Salle Avenue.
Over the waterspout, could be seen about 09.00, when it was a few kilometers from the coast, from different places in the south of the island, among others, in Arguineguín, Puerto Rico and Anfi del Mar, in the municipality from Mogán, as well as from Maspalomas, in San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
Numerous neighbors and foreigners, as parents who had just left their children at the Center for Early Childhood and Primary Education (CEIP) Playa de Arguineguín, took advantage when possible to take pictures or videos, while moving to their jobs, addresses or other sites. This atmospheric phenomenon usually consists of a funnel-shaped cloud mass that rotates rapidly.
A municipal worker from Mogán said that "this type of atmospheric phenomenon is a spectacle and attracts a lot of attention, I had just left my daughter at school, I could not stop with the car but I saw it and then they gave me a video".
"Despite having an interest, I am clear from what I have been told that it is not dangerous, nor is it the first time you see it in the South." A few years ago, several water bags were seen in Tasarte [en el municipio de La Aldea de San Nicolás]. They have several pictures at the beach bar, "he added.
Apart from the aforementioned coastal phenomenon, the rains were noted by gusts in the Southeast, as in other areas of the island. The precipitations fallen by gusts during the early morning and yesterday morning in the municipality of Santa Lucia de Tirajana caused the water circulate at noon through the ravine of Powder.
This fact is usually already common every time it rains in Santaluceño municipality, although with normality, since it is channeled. The water was once more collected by the ravine through its passage through the towns of Sardina, Casa Pastors, Crossing of Shepherds and Balos, and then ending in the Bay of Formas.
It should be remembered that more than fifteen years ago, after heavy rains, floods and damage occurred in Los Llanos, especially at the height of the Municipal Stadium. After these events, different measures and channels were carried out so that it would not be repeated, as it has been. However, yesterday there were imprudence by drivers and neighbors. They happened in the ravine of El Polvo, in the underpass at the height of the GC-1 and the Cruce de Sardina, after passing through the Avenida del Atlántico.
A fence with the sign of prohibited passage was placed, at least, during the morning of yesterday at the entrance of said underground passage by the water that circulated through the channel of the ravine. In contrast, several drivers with their cars, and also pedestrians, decided to pass despite the ban.
The water flowed in a small amount through the ravine of Balos, through the Industrial Zone of Arinaga, although it was also added from the sewer system. Nothing to do with the large amount that there was after only in Agüimes fell 54.6 liters of water per square meter on Thursday March 28.
The precipitations yesterday had little presence in the South. While the temperature reached noon 18 or 19 degrees Celsius in Santa Lucia de Tirajana and Agüimes, Mogán thermometers reached the 26 degrees mark.
