April arrives this Friday with yellow risk or orange risk due to snowfall, wind or strong waves in much of the northern third, the east of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. Asturias, Cantabria, the Basque Country, La Rioja and, especially, Navarra have woken up under snow. So much so that Pedro Sánchez himself has been forced to cancel a visit to the National Center for Renewable Energies (CENER), in the Navarran town of Sarriguren.

The culprit of this climatic anomaly at the beginning of April is the Ciril storm, an Atlantic front that will establish a flow of cold air with a northern component that will sweep part of Spain throughout this Friday.

The biggest problems have been recorded on the roads of the Cantabrian area and Navarra. This Thursday, the DGT recalled the importance of checking the state of the roads, finding out about possible rainfall that may occur in the area through which you are going to travel and having winter tires or chains. For Asturias, Aragón, Cantabria, Castilla y León and Catalonia, the Ministry of Transport has prepared 826 snow plows.

The snowstorm will be brief and focused, but a drastic drop in temperature will follow in the coming days. Strong gusts of wind of up to 100 km/h, maritime storms and heavy rains are also expected in the affected areas.
