The Second Section of the Provincial Court of Navarre has received the 'Silver Garrotte', for elaborating what is considered the second worst sentence. The court alleged that the five accused did not practice violence or intimidation and therefore condemned them for abuse and not for sexual assault.

The 'Bronze Garrotte' is for the Chamber of the Second Section of the Cojutepeque Center, El Salvador, where a woman was raped and unknowingly became pregnant, suffered a miscarriage for which the court sentenced her to 30 years of prison for aggravated homicide.

Finally, the public has decided that the 'Garrote del Público' is for the Superior Court of Justice of Mexico City, where the court sentenced a woman for breaking the harmony and dignity of marriage, using discriminatory stereotypes. It was a mother who wanted the father of her son to pay her alimony and, when she refused, told the father's wife about the situation. The current wife sued her for moral damage.
