the selectivity tests will be from June 22 to July 10 in ordinary call

The EvAU will be held between June 22 and July 10 in ordinary call and before September 10 in extraordinary, as approved by the Sectoral Conference on Education, in which the ministries of Education and FP, Universities and Autonomous Communities participate. At the moment, only three autonomous communities will do the tests in July: Basque Country, Navarra and Murcia.

At the meeting, it was revealed the difficulty that it is supplying for the teachers who teach in the 2nd year of Bachillerato and, especially, for the students of this course, the suspension of the face-to-face classes due to the epidemic due to coronavirus infection , Covid-19. This is why it has been agreed modify the model and content of the tests to ensure that access to the University occurs in terms of “equity and justice”.

The proof, however, will include the entire agenda, “So that the students are not harmed by not having worked in class some block or blocks of content of any of the subjects,” the Ministry said in a statement. Of course, it is intended that exceptional circumstances do not penalize the students who are tested this year. Why will have more answer options in their exams and they will be able to select a number of questions per block of broad composition, to guarantee 100% that it will be about content that they have worked on, during the face-to-face class period, as explained by Universities. That is, the students will have more opportunities to get the highest mark, despite not having completed the course to compensate for the lack of contact hours since if, for example, the student had two options to choose from in the exam on a subject, now they can have up to five and one of the questions will at least have to do with content that you studied before March 11, when the alarm state was decreed.

The Community of Madrid, for example, plans to expand the possibilities of choosing questions between options A and B of the exam. The options will be made up of the same number of sections and each one of them will have the same punctuation value. That is, it is intended that the combination of the two options be allowed, being able to choose questions from options A and B, although only in a correlative and exclusive way so that if question 1 of option A is chosen, question 1 cannot be chosen option B and so on.

The Minister of Education and FP, Isabel Celaá, starts from the idea that “the first two quarters have been well completed And, in relation to the remainder of the course, on April 11 we will return to the videoconference to confirm what the circumstances are at that time and see how we pass the end of the course. ” The minister hopes that the circumstances are better and there may be face-to-face activity which would allow, at least for a few days, “review the most important contents and take them to the EvAU test. If this is not the case, we will adopt some decisions in order to continue online, but adjusting the most relevant aspects of each agenda“He said in statements to the EFE agency.

The proposed dates for carrying out the EvAU will depend, however, on the evolution of the pandemic, but, in principle, it has been established that ratings released before July 17 for the ordinary call and before September 18 in the case of the extraordinary. The definitive allocation of places cannot be made before September 25.

The Minister of Education and FP, Isabel Celaá, wanted to reassure families by ensuring that “nobody has to worry excessively because the current situation is already quite worrying, but we are working so that no student misses the course due to the pandemic and to that all students can be evaluated in fair and equitable conditions ”.

Although there was agreement on almost all the agreed matters, one of the issues that generated controversy was that of the exam evaluation criteria Selectivity depending on the community. Madrid asked for a technical meeting between the communities and ministries involved to avoid that there are no substantial differences in the ways of evaluating, a proposal to which the Minister of Education and FP was very receptive. However, the Basque Country and Catalonia asked that their autonomous powers in education be respected.

“The Community of Madrid has always said that the EvAU tests should have correction criteria that are national and not autonomous because the injustice that is more generous and less demanding when evaluating the test occurs and It happens that these students from other communities get better grades than the people of Madrid and, when it comes time to enter the universities, our students have worse grades and less possibilities. This happens year after year and now I am concerned that, in the face of a more flexible EvAU due to the circumstances, this will multiply ”, explained the Madrid Minister of Education, Enrique Ossorio.

Lomce evaluations suspended

On the other hand, the Ministry plans to issue a resolution by which the diagnostic evaluations of the LOMCE are suspended (3rd and 6th grade of primary and 4th grade of ESO). Some autonomous communities, such as Madrid, had already requested it to avoid the “overload” of educational centers. One aspect that has been taken into account to suspend the evaluations has been precisely the fact of the difficulty of some disadvantaged students to access the technological means that allow them to follow classes remotely like the rest.

Oppositions to Secondary

At the meeting, it was agreed to postpone a final decision on holding the Secondary exams next week. Apparently, Education believes that it is a decision that depends on the autonomous communities, although it would be desirable for a unanimous decision to be taken on this aspect. In this sense, Madrid has already ensured that it will keep the scheduled date for June 20 and Catalonia for the beginning of July, although everything will depend on how the pandemic evolves. However, it does not seem that all the autonomous regions hold a unanimous opinion on this matter. Some have stated that they preferred to postpone the oppositions until 2021 and others to keep them until 2020.

FP internships in work centers

Regarding the duration of the internships for VET students in work centers (FCT), it has been agreed to limit exceptionally to the minimum hours included in the basic regulations, that is, 220 hours. Likewise, the FCT module will be exceptionally integrated with a project module so that the objectives associated with the work environment can be addressed. This measure will affect both basic VET, as well as intermediate and higher grade.

In relation to the entrance tests to the FP of medium or higher degree for those who do not have the academic requirements of access to these teachings, it has been agreed to postpone them as necessary, even reaching the first fortnight of July, ensures the Ministry .

Courses abroad

On the other hand, the Ministry has set up an address and a telephone so that families can manage the homologation of the studies of the nearly 8,000 students who study outside of Spain. In addition, these foreign educational centers will be asked for the tools so that they can finish their studies so that students can approve the course in Spain.
