The sale of homes soared 25.6% last March compared to the same month of 2021, to add 59,272 operations, its highest figure since January 2008 and its best data in a month of March since 2007, when They exceeded 74,000 sales, as reported this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

With the interannual advance in March, which has increased by more than one point compared to the growth experienced in February, the sale of homes has chained 13 consecutive months of positive rates.

The year-on-year rise in home sales in March was a consequence of both the increase in operations on new homes, which grew by 15.7%, to 11,510 operations, and the increase in the sale of used flats by 28.3% , up to 47,762 transactions.

92.1% of the homes transferred by sale in the third month of the year were free homes and 7.9%, protected.

The sale of free homes rose by 26.5% year-on-year in March, to 54,614 operations, while that of protected homes increased by 15.6%, adding a total of 4,658 operations.

In monthly terms (March over February), the sale of homes increased by 10.5%, its highest rise in a month of March in the last five years.

In the first three months of the year, the sale of homes increased by 26.7%, with increases of 30.3% in the case of second-hand homes and 13.9% in new homes.
