The sale of a block in Malaga to a developer expels the neighbors: "I have to hand over the keys tomorrow"

Trinidad has been living for rent 31 years on the street orchard of wood The Perchel, in Malaga. Is the first neighborof the 50 affected -15 of them in old rent-, that officially you must leave your home in this neighborhood of the Malaga capital where a Madrid developer, Dazia, has acquired a block that it intends to demolish.

"The letter says that I have to hand over the keys to my house tomorrow"says Trinidad, who received two letters on January 25, from Dazia and the former owner, Vitrubio, informing him that he had to leave his home, for which he pays 227 euros per month.

From there, there is only uncertainty. This neighbor of El Perchel does not know if someone will show up at her house tomorrow or to whom or how she should hand over the keys. "Apart from the letters I have not had any communication with them They haven't told me anything else", he points out.

What he is clear about is that he is not going to leave his home, where he assures that he has spent half his life. "I am the first but more letters are arriving and this will continuewe are many neighbors who find ourselves in the same situation", affirms Trinidad. "We are people who live herefamilies, and we are not going to allow them to do what they want to do, frightening".

In fact, that is the general position of the residents of El Perchel, who warn that They will not give up their homes. "No one is going to get out of here. They have to take us ahead with the bulldozer," the spokesperson for the El Perchel neighborhood platform, Enrique Gutierrez in an act convened by the municipal group of United We Can in Montalbán street.

This resident of El Perchel has recalled that they have been suffering real estate harassment since 2017, when a lawyer from the developer contacted them with the intention of negotiating the exit of the tenants. At that time, he has affected the councilor of United We Can, Remedios Ramosthe then owner of these buildings stopped maintaining and conserving these buildings "so that the neighbors were abandoning the apartments".

"Since 2017 neither the Vitrubio real estate company nor anyone has done anything for us at any time. We have reached this point in 2022 and at the end of 2021 a first letter came to a neighbor saying that her contract was ending on March 1, 2022 ", continued Enrique Gutiérrez, who has once again asked for support from the Malaga City Council. "We don't want to go to Teatinos, or money or anything, All we ask is that you support us."

The spokeswoman for United We Can, Paqui Macías, has appealed to the mayor, Francisco de la Torre, to comply with thel El Perchel Sur Special Plan, which includes the "maintenance of the existing population and recruitment through actions and renovation processes, of new population in degraded areas".

"We ask the mayor to mediate with the company so that these neighbors stay in the neighborhood of El Perchel and the commitments to care for and protect these families who have nowhere else to go are fulfilled," said Paqui Macías.

The affected houses are located on the streets Montalbán, Callejones del Perchel, Malpica, Huerto de la Madera, Arco and Angosta del Carmen.
