The rotavirus vaccine enters the national calendar

The Interterritorial Council of the National Health System has just agreed to include the rotavirus vaccine for premature babies in the Common Lifetime Vaccination Calendar.

The inclusion of this new immunization was a claim requested by pediatricians for years. And this virus is responsible for 14-30% of all cases of gastroenteritis in Spain. Likewise, rotavirus infection is associated with high use of health resources, with an annual expenditure of 28 million euros for the Spanish Health System.

From a social perspective, approximately 2 out of 3 parents, whose children have been hospitalized for rotavirus, need to be absent from work for an average of 4 days, so the impact psychosocial impact on families is high
