He jazz will sound loud again in the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium from the capital of Gran Canaria with the celebration of a new edition of the Jazz Corner, composed of three concerts to be held during the last quarter of the year. Moisés P. Sánchez Project, Mikael Godée & Eve Beuvens Quartet, and Chicuelo and Marco Mezquida are the musicians who will take the stage of the Hall Jerónimo Saavedra which becomes, as in each edition, the reference jazz club in the city for all fans of this musical style.
The first concert will take place next Saturday and it is the project that brings musician Moisés P. Sánchez under the title Metamorphosis. Moisés Sánchez is, today, one of the most important values of European jazz. His peculiar way of understanding and studying music results in a unique and particular way of conceiving the instrument (the piano) and the music itself. This is why it adopts a broad perspective on improvisation, arrangements, harmony and composition.
Metamorphosis has received the award at Best Jazz Disco 2017 both in the Indie Acoustic Awards from the United States as in the MIN Awards for independent music. They accompany Moisés P. Sánchez in this concert, Pablo Martín on double bass; Borja Barrueta, with drums and lap-steel and Cristina Mora, voice and keyboard.
On November 29, it is the turn of Mikael Godée & Eve Beuvens Quartet with its melodic and always elegant jazz. The Swedish saxophonist Mikael Godée, winner of a Grammy, and the Belgian pianist Eve Beuvens come to the Auditorium to present her latest work accompanied by the rest of her band. The quartet manages to create a different sound, which hypnotizes and surprises with its chords and harmony. The group is completed with Johan Birgenius, on drums and Magnus Bergström, with double bass.
Finally, on December 7, the Sala Jerónimo Saavedra will receive two exceptional artists in which it is the third date of this first advance of the Jazz Corner: Marco Mezquida & Chicuelo. The Menorcan pianist is already an old friend of the Auditorium where he has performed several times. In this concert joins the guitarist Juan Gómez -Chicuelo- to present the proposal with which they are currently on tour and that unites jazz and flamenco in a single feeling. Accompanied by the percussionist Paco de Mode, the concert bears the title of There are no two without three.
Jazz has been, for 15 years, one of the permanent and unavoidable events in the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium program and one of the best known by the public of Gran Canaria, a great fan and loyal to jazz. In addition to the programming of this cycle, the jazz offer is completed with other proposals that arrive on time or under the umbrella of others festivals as is the case of the Martirio concert with Chano Domínguez that will take place on November 9 at the Theater Pérez Galdós.
One of the great attractions of the Jazz Corner is the layout of the room, since the traditional armchairs are replaced in silver by tables and chairs that turn the Jerónimo Saavedra room into a jazz club in which, in addition to listening to good music, You can take a drink and share with friends. In addition, and as usual, the quality of the artists who go up every year on the stage of the Jazz Corner makes this cycle has become a meeting point for all jazz lovers and a reference for professionals.
Tickets for these concerts can be purchased at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium ticket office, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and from Pérez Galdós Theater, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and until a few minutes before the show starts at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium; as well as on the websites www.auditorio-alfredokraus.com and www.teatroperezgaldos.es.
