The richest women in the world

Forbes magazine has published the list with the people with the greatest patrimony of the planet in 2019. As usual, of the first hundred rich biographies that appear in the ranking, 89 belong to men. In addition, the eleven women who do have a gap in the classification have in common that their fortune was, at least at first, inherited from their predecessors or their partners or ex-partners. The first place on the list of richest women in the world is led by Francoise Bettencourt Meyers, 65 years old. She is the granddaughter of the founder of the multinational L'Oreal. Followed by Alicia Walton, the only daughter of Walmart store founder Sam Walton. Jaqueline Mars is the daughter of the founder of the largest candy company in the world.

You have to wait for number 149 in the ranking to find the first businesswoman who amassed the fortune herself, honor of the Chinese business woman Wu Zajun, founder with her husband Longfor Properties, a construction company based in Beijing.

As regards Spanish women Forbes points to Marta Ortega, daughter of the founder of the Inditex empire, as the richest with a fortune of 6,100 million dollars. The second Spanish in that index is the entrepreneur and art collector Alicia Koplowitz, in the position 1.008, which has 2.430 million dollars.
