The technological change in which we live immersed For a few years, motivated by the increase in computing power, lower storage and new software capable of managing large amounts of data, it is allowing to extract knowledge derived from the analysis of the data associated with the operations that consumers carry out. in any sector, with a much lower cost, with greater accuracy and with greater wealth for decision making.
Terms like Big Data, Machine Learning, or Artificial Intelligence they have become daily in the day to day of many organizations, and they do not lack in any strategic plan of any company, independently of the industry in question.
But if there is an industry where the data has a very high added value, motivated by the large amount of information that can be drawn not only from application to its sector but to many others, it is that of the payment industry. Each time an individual makes a payment, it leaves information not only about ability to pay, but also about purchasing habits, types of products purchased, slots, channels, and so on. The industry of means of payment in itself, is one of those that is suffering major transformations motivated by the digitalization, and where to the habitual operators new competitors have been added with disruptive business models and one hundred percent digital natives in many cases.
In the last report prepared by Afi for Minsait about Means of Payment Trends, presented last week, is a reflection on the impact of the development of data economy on employment. It seems obvious that machines are going to take on tasks that are currently being developed by people, and some of the current jobs will tend to disappear or be transformed. However, it is also a reality that new professional profiles and new competences have appeared around these new areas of knowledge. Professions as data director or CDO, data engineer, data scientist or data scientist, break out as some of the most demanded and best paid professions today. Responsible for information security and data protection delegates or DPO, they start to be key people in any company.
That is why it is necessary that academic institutions and regulated and non-regulated training plans adapt flexibly and agile to the current demand for knowledge. Never in such a crucial moment as the current one, properly training our population can have such an important impact on the development of the economy and, therefore, on the ability to generate quality employment.
