The rains cause half a thousand incidences in Catalonia, none serious

The intense rains registered in Catalonia since last night and until 7 this morning have caused more than half a thousand incidents, especially in the Tarragona regions of Baix Camp and Tarragonès, although none of them has had serious consequences.

According to the Civil Protection of the Generalitat, the warning of the Inuncat Plan is maintained in the Catalan community, which recommends extreme caution in the movement of traffic, not approaching the margins of the streams and not crossing flooded areas.

The emergency number 112 of Catalonia has received since last night a total of 784 calls relating to 515 incidents due to heavy rains, but there is no person injured in them.

The majority of calls have been made due to flooding of low, overflows of sewerage networks or related to vehicles affected by water.

Of the calls to the number of emergencies, the Firemen of the Generalitat have attended, from the 20.00 hours of yesterday, when they began the first warnings, until the 07.00 hours of this morning, a total of 276 services.

The majority of incidents have been concentrated in the districts of Tarragona, where 213 calls have been received, some of them to attend to occupants of vehicles that had been stopped before the significant accumulations of water, and also due to damages in parking lots and parking lots.

The rains have also caused some incidences in the circulation of trains, and so early this morning Adif reported that the traffic had been cut on the R-16 line of Rodalies, between Cambrils and Port Aventura by flooding the road.

Likewise, a Talgo train that was heading to Sants has been stopped in Salou for the same reason. Early in the morning the two incidents had already been resolved.

The Catalan Water Agency (ACA) has reported an increase in the flow of the Riera Major and the Ter river, while the evolution of the fluvial network in the counties of Conca de Barberà, Alt Camp and Tarragonès is pending.

The Meteorological Service of Catalonia (SMC) has reported several notable records for water accumulation: in Vinyols i els Arcs (Tarragona) 112.6 liters / m2 have been accumulated, while in Gurb (Barcelona) 73 liters have been registered, in Constantí (Tarragona) 67.6 and 61.7 liters / m2 in Tarragona city.
