THE PROVINCE receives six European awards for its innovative design - La Provincia

The European Newspaper Awards, the most prestigious design awards in the European press, have distinguished the newspaper LA PROVINCIA / DLP with six awards for the quality and innovation of its designs and its information coverage, in the framework of its twentieth edition, at the There were 182 newspapers from 25 European countries.

The list of awards failed by a jury composed of 16 experts from eight countries (Denmark, Norway, Finland, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Portugal and Germany) has distinguished the PROVINCE with six awards in six different categories: cover, cover of supplement, illustration, infographics, photography and special pages.

In the cover category, THE PROVINCE has been distinguished in the cover design on the coverage of the suspension of the declaration of the independence of Catalonia by the former president of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, on October 11, 2017, in the context of the referendum held on October 1 (1-O) and its results and effects.

The second award went to the cover of the Sunday supplement of June 24, 2018, which crowns a report on the experiences of the computer scientist Ricardo Cárdenes in Hawaii in the context of the spectacular eruption of Kilauea volcano.

And once again, the illustrator, infographic and creative advertising Fernando Montecruz has been distinguished with two awards in the categories of Illustration and Infographics. The first corresponds to an illustration of José María Aznar in full farewell to Mariano Rajoy of the Popular Party (PP). The second consists of an infographic on the disappearance of the submarine ARA San Juan, ship of the Argentine Navy, on December 3, 2017, with 44 crew members on board. In total, Montecruz already holds four awards from the European Newspaper Awards, which precede the distinctions to an infographic about the slaughter of Dallas (Texas, USA) in 2017 and an illustration of former British Prime Minister David Cameron, in the debate on the Brexit.

Likewise, in the category of Photography, the European design awards reward a photograph of the Gran Telescopio de Canarias (Grantecan) made by the photographer José Carlos Guerra, with La Palma astrophysicist Nieves Castro inside the dome, which illustrates a report on The Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC) within a special supplement on the last Canary Islands Day.

And finally, the weekly supplement for leisure and culture R @ dar has been distinguished in the category of Special Pages for the coverage of a broad report on the new videogame of Spiderman for Playstation 4.

These awards to LA PROVINCIA are added to five other awards obtained in the two previous editions: in 2017, the magazine With style He received two awards for his cover and a report titled Faunario, along with the aforementioned Montecruz infographic award on the Dallas massacre; and in 2016, an analysis page was awarded on the general elections of December 20, 2015, together with the aforementioned illustration of Cameron.

However, in this 20th edition of the European Newspaper Awards other newspapers of the Editorial Prensa Ibérica group, editor of LA PROVINCIA / DLP, were also awarded prizes.
