The Prosecutor’s Office has opened investigation proceedings following the CGT union’s complaint for the vaccination against COVID-19 of managers and positions of trust of ambulance companies who are not in contact with virus patients. As reported by tax sources, it will be the Barcelona Prosecutor’s Office that will take charge of the investigations after the union initially reported the events to the Superior Prosecutor of Catalonia. It is the first investigation that the Prosecutor’s Office opens in Catalonia for allegedly irregular vaccinations.
The union’s complaint relates that managers and trusted personnel of ambulance companies that provide service to the Catalan Medical Emergency System (SEM) were vaccinated against the coronavirus, which in the opinion of the CGT may involve the alleged crimes of prevarication and trafficking of influences. “Inappropriate vaccination of managers without contact with patients occurs while the first line of ambulances has not yet been carried out,” said the CGT.
The CGT specified that there have been cases of “improper” use of vaccination by managers in the Falck companies, vaccinated at the Bellvitge Hospital, at the Transport Sanitari de Catalunya company, vaccinated at the Sants CAP, at the Ambulances company Sunday, vaccinated in the Vall d’Hebrón, as well as La Pau Ambulances and Lázaro Ambulances. For this union, if the use of public resources for personal gain is “execrable”, it is even more so “when it passes over people who need it most.”
The protocol of the Ministry of Health establishes that in the first phase of vaccination the immunization of first-line health workers and workers and residents in nursing homes should be prioritized. The Generalitat, on the other hand, has vaccinated all the personnel who work in public and private hospitals in the first phase of the campaign, whether they are managers or workers in the kitchens or in the administration of the centers that are not in direct contact with the patients.
After news came to light in other communities, such as the Basque Country, where health managers resigned After administering the first dose, from Public Health in Catalonia they defended that their criterion is to vaccinate all personnel who work in a hospital compound, starting with the workers of COVID-19 circuits.
