Crossed by swimming, under cover of the fog, the three or four kilometers that separate the Line of the Conception of the rock of Gibraltar, where the British police stopped him, the 4 of August of 1937. So that the consul did not return him to territory conquered by the insurgent military, he lied: "I just turned 19". The journey of Manuel Díaz Barranco, fifteen years old, had just begun.
