The prices of fuels rise again three months later

The prices of gasoline and diesel fuel have risen again this week in our country after three months of decline. According to the EU oil bulletin, the average price of 95 octane gasoline is 1,197 euros per liter and gasoline 1,148 euros. The increase is 1.5% in both cases on the prices that were at the beginning of the year.

Throughout 2018, 95 octane gasoline registered a decrease of 5.15% and diesel of 1.3%.

The causes of the rise in prices in recent days are the rising cost of oil, which has gone from 53 to 61 dollars a barrel (15% more), and the fiscal harmonization upwards in the autonomous communities.

From the past day 1 all the regions apply the same autonomic section of the Special Tax on Hydrocarbons that, in addition, is the highest, of 4.8 euro cents per liter. The increase is more important in the communities that applied the zero rate of this tax: Castilla y León, Cantabria, La Rioja, Navarra, Basque Country and the Canary Islands.
