The prize of Narrative Young Benito Pérez Galdós will invite “young high school students to start writing.” This was clarified by the head of CanaryseBook activities, Beatriz Morales, during the presentation of this initiative that took place in the House-Museum of the writer.
This activity is part of the project Opening doors which is part of the program of activities promoted by the Canary Islands Commission, the Land of Galdós which will be carried out during the year of the I Galdosian centenary and that has three lines of action.
“The first is the route of the City of Galdós in which about 1000 students from Gran Canaria will participate, “Morales said. The second is” a guide through the Pérez Galdós Theater. “And the third is the celebration of the aforementioned First Prize Benito Pérez Galdós of Young Narrative. Morales made these statements in an event that was attended by the Minister of Culture Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Guacimara Medina Pérez and the Minister of Education and Youth, Olaia Morán Ramírez.
The Young Narrative prize will have two categories One short novel and one short story. And you will be able to present yourself at this I Youth Narrative Prize on students enrolled in public and private centers in the Canary Islands, Secondary Education (ESO, Baccalaureate, F. Professional), prior acceptance of the rules of the call.
The theme on which the work presented will be completely free. And as regards the extension of the short novel, it will be between 40 and 80 pages in A4 size, numbered, with the following characteristics: 12-point TNR (Times New Roman) letter, with double spacing and the upper margins and less than 2.5 cm, and for each
side, 3 cm. On the other hand, the length of the short stories will not exceed four pages with the previous characteristics.
At least the first page must include the title of the story and the name of the author, as well as the name of the center and the course in which it is enrolled. The text submitted may not have been the object of a prize in previous competition or have been published by its author prior to the delivery of originals, both on paper or ebook and blog. Together with the originality and literary quality of the text, aspects will be assessed such as
spelling, story quality, originality and textual coherence.
The deadline for submission of papers begins on Monday, January 20, 2020 and ends on Friday, March 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. The works, in Word, will be sent to the email [email protected] with the following motive: “For the literary contest Benito Pérez Galdós Prize of Young Narrative”.
The Resolution of the Prize will be announced on April 23, 2020, International Book Day. And the awards ceremony will be held on May 30, Canary Day (the act may be advanced to 29), the celebration of said act will probably be in the Pérez Galdós House-Museum.
