The PP "understands" the aspirations of Cs but says that in Galicia nationalism is not "a real option" as in Euskadi

The secretary general of the PP, Teodoro García Egea, said Wednesday that his party "understands" the "legitimate aspirations" of citizens in the negotiations to reach an agreement before the Basque, Galician and Catalan elections that are held this year, but He stressed that in Galicia nationalism is not a "real option" nor does the center-right have a "problem" as it does in Catalonia and the Basque Country.

"I am sure that with many hours and great enthusiasm we will be able to give electors options so that they will be excited again, in the Basque Country and Catalonia fundamentally. In Galicia, fortunately we do not have the problem that nationalism is currently being a real option for citizens, "he said in an interview in La Sexta, collected by Europa Press.

In this sense, García Egea - who has been commissioned by Pablo Casado to lead the negotiations with Citizens before this year's election meetings - has insisted that in Galicia the PP is the "only one capable of agglutinating the entire center -right around him. "

This is how the 'number two' of the PP has pronounced a day after its first formal meeting with the secretary of Institutional Action of the manager of Cs, José María Espejo, where both parties offered different versions. While the PP said that it had served to advance the need for the center-right to be united in the Basque Country and Catalonia, the orange party described as "worrisome" that the 'popular' exclude Galicia from the electoral coalitions.

"THE TUNING WITH CITIZENS IS TOTAL"

García Egea has affirmed that "the tuning with Cs is permanent and total", especially since they share regional and municipal governments, something that, as he has said, forces them to "talk a lot, exchange many points of view and work" to avoid generate "inefficiencies for citizens".

But when asked about these criticisms of Cs affecting the PP that wants to leave Galicia out of the negotiation, the 'number two' has reiterated that there is "total harmony in terms of the final objective", which is to achieve articulate "center governments -Right to lower taxes and lower people's lives. "

"The tuning around the objective is total although there may be some kind of legitimate discrepancies in addressing the issues of how to articulate those agreements," he said, adding that "work must continue." Both parties have a deadline until Thursday of next week to register coalitions to the Basque and Galician elections.

BELIEVES THEY WILL BE AGREED IN BASQUE COUNTRY AND CATALONIA

García Egea has been convinced that PP and Cs are going to "agree" in the Basque Country and Catalonia, because that is what voters are asking for after the "fragmentation" of the center-right has benefited the left or the nationalism in the last electoral appointments.

In the case of Galicia, he said that in this community "there is no such problem" and stressed that "even the members of Citizens themselves recognize that the PP has a brand that brings together the entire center-right." Moreover, he said that "even many people from the center-left feel represented in the way the PP solves the problems of Galicia."

For all these reasons, he pointed out that PP and Cs "share" the "objective" of the center-right to govern in the three autonomous communities (Galicia, the Basque Country and Catalonia) and to unite in those territories "where they can prevent the left from governing ".

"Now we have to establish what mechanisms allow us to meet that goal and I understand that Citizens have their legitimate discrepancies or their legitimate aspirations," he said, to add that in the coming days they have to "match everyone's needs."

MEETINGS IN THE NEXT DAYS

In this sense, he pointed out that it is necessary to "move from a positional negotiation, in which each one has his position and enrolls", to a negotiation of "needs management". In his view, the "fundamental" need is to go to the elections together and get "governments for freedom", something that, in his opinion, "is sure to be resolved by establishing the necessary mechanisms for doing so."

As for whether there is already a new meeting with Cs like the one he held on Tuesday with Espejo, García Egea has affirmed that there is a "constant interlocution" between both formations and has added that in the next few days they will "continue seeing".
