The Port of Barcelona, ​​the best in the Excellence Cruise Awards



The Port of Barcelona has been one of the winners this afternoon with the Excellence Cruises Awards 2020 that are delivered in La Coruña, awarded by the communication company Cruises News Media Group based on passenger votes.

Eleven have been distinguished in the different official categories of the thirteenth edition of these awards, in addition to the aforementioned port, are Pullmantur Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Celestyial Cruisses, CroisiEurope, Costa Cruises, MSC Cruises, Norwegian Getaway, Princess Cruises, Silversea Cruises and Celebrity Cruises.

The Best Entertainment 2019 award has been given to the company founded in Norway and based in the United States Royal Caribbean, while the Best Port has been that of Barcelona.

The award for Best Itinerary 2019 has been for the cruise line based in Cyprus Celestyal Cruisses; The award for Best River Tourism Company 2019 has recognized CroisiEurope and the Excellence distinction for Best Gastronomy on board has received Celebrity Cruises.

On the other hand, Pullmantur Cruises has been distinguished with two awards, the Best Crew 2019 and the Best Ship for the first cruise, and Costa Cruises has also collected two awards, the Best Brand Recognition between Travel Agencies and Better Shipping in Value for money.

The Italo-Swiss company MSC Cruises has been awarded three awards: for the Best Popular Naviera 2019; to the Best Boat in the Mediterranean and the Best recognition among consumers.

They have also recognized the Best Ship in Northern Europe, which is the Norwegian Getaway, while the Best Premium Ship 2019 is, according to voters, Princess Cruises and the title of the Best Luxury Ship 2019 is held by Silversea Cruises.

Apart from the official Excellence awards, the Port Authority of A Coruña has delivered four plates of acknowledgments to port services “for their competitive rates”, a special award to Carnival UK and another to the Port of Leixoes for their relationships.

Likewise, Costa Cruises has also obtained a special distinction for its Corporate Social Responsibility work, delivered by Cruisses News.

The respect for the environment, the commitment to sustainable tourism and the spectacular future that awaits the sector have been the priority slogans in the speeches of the winners.

At the ceremony, held at the Rosalía Theater with the presence of about 250 executives and representatives of the sector, the general director of Cruises News Virginia López stressed that “these awards symbolize the quality of a sector that grows above any other in the tourist industry”.

In addition, the president of the Port Authority of Coruña, Enrique Losada, has emphasized that La Coruña is “one of the destinations best valued by passengers”, and has indicated that, “in just ten years”, the transatlantic tourism It has grown in this port “more than 200%”, an achievement that “is heritage” of all Coruña.

For its part, the Councilor for Tourism of La Coruña, Diana Cabanas, stressed that this year is expected to stop in the city 121 ships with more than 180,000 passengers, and has asked the shipping companies to respect the environment and minimize the negative ecological impact that your boats produce.
