The poet Francisco Brines is still admitted to Gandía, “stable” and “tired”

Gandía (Valencia), May 17 (EFE) .- The Valencian poet Francisco Brines remains admitted “stable” and “tired” in the Hospital of Gandía (Valencia), where he was operated on for a hernia at dawn on the 15th.

According to EFE sources close to the Valencian writer, Brines, 89, “is still stable in the hospital, he is tired and does not know when he will be discharged.”

Francisco Brines was admitted a day after the kings presented him with the 2020 Cervantes Prize at his home in the “Elca” family estate, in Oliva (Valencia), the place that has inspired many of his poems, as the ceremony could not be held on April 23 for his delicate state of health.

Brines, one of the few surviving poets of the Generation of the 50s, is also recognized with the National Prize for Literature, the Reina Sofía Prize for Ibero-American Poetry, the International Poetry Federico García Lorca and the National Critics Prize.
