The spanish poet Francisco Brines has been awarded this Monday with the Cervantes Prize 2020, the highest recognition of letters in Spanish, as announced by the Minister of Culture and Sports, José Manuel Rodríguez Uribes.

The decision of this award, endowed with 125,000 euros, has been made public at a press conference after the deliberation of the jury, some of whose members have had to participate online due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Miguel de Cervantes Prize for Literature in the Spanish Language, created in 1975, recognizes the trajectory of a writer who, with all his work, has contributed to enriching the Hispanic literary legacy. And in this case it has fallen into a "great poet" whose "teaching has been recognized by all generations".
