The PNV announces its definitive support for the General Budgets of 2021

“I can announce that the PNV’s vote on the Budgets will be favorable.” This is how the PNV spokesperson in Congress, Aitor Esteban, has announced the support of the six deputies of his group for the project for the public accounts of 2021. Esteban has appeared before journalists to report that in the last hours they have closed a second package of amendments that satisfy their claims, so they will vote yes both in the debate in committee, which begins this week, and for the final vote in plenary next week.

The Government thus officially adds its first support to the Budgets. On the table is also the support of EH Bildu, which was already anticipated last week by its general coordinator, Arnaldo Otegi, although the second Basque group in the Chamber, with five deputies, will consult their bases on the final direction of their vote this Thursday. Esteban’s announcement came precisely one day after Bildu announced that consultation with his militancy. Something similar happened last week, when the PNV spokesman appeared before the media to report important progress in the negotiations with the Government, following in the wake of the support of those of Otegi.

“The issues were those that were key for us,” Esteban pointed out at the press conference. The PNV spokesperson has pointed out some of the amendments it has agreed to with the Government, such as the transfer of land belonging to Defense in favor of the Donostia City Council, the production of offshore wind energy in the ports, “modifying legislation that weighs down centers technological “or various investments in infrastructure in the three Basque provinces.

The announcement of the PNV comes in the day in which the debate of the opinion of the Budgets begins in the respective parliamentary commission. Next week said opinion will go to plenary session for approval. Then it will be the turn of the Senate.

With the Basque votes almost in their pockets, the PSOE Government and United We can thus add 166 votes, which leaves only 10 deputies to guarantee their first Budgets.
