The Philharmonic of Gran Canaria will offer 49 school concerts this season


The foundation Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria (OFGC) and the DISA Foundation have presented this Tuesday the 2020-2021 season of school and family concerts, in which They will offer 49 functions in different scenarios of the capital of Gran Canaria and other municipalities of the island.
This 2021, 28 years are celebrated bringing music to children and young people from all over Gran Canaria, the OFGC has highlighted in a statement, with a programming coordinated by teacher Rafael Sánchez-Araña that will begin this Wednesday, January 27, to thousands of children and young people from various island settings
And it is that this season will be sought reinforce the presence of these concerts in the different municipalities of the Island, Therefore, there will be performances, in addition to at the Guiniguada Theater -which returns to the programming as in the beginning of this initiative-, also at Cuyás, at the Juan Ramón Jiménez de Telde Theater and at the Teror Auditorium, with the aim to facilitate the approach of the different programmed productions.
For the ninth consecutive year, the initiative has the collaboration of the DISA Foundation, which is part of its cultural-sports axis, with the conviction that culture and art are fundamental disciplines for the development of any society, since a The population that appreciates culture also maintains a common knowledge base from which to grow in different fields of knowledge, the statement reads.
Present at the season's presentation were Rafael Sánchez-Araña, artistic manager of the programming of the Educational Concerts of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sara Mateos, director of the DISA Foundation.
Rafael Sánchez-Araña highlighted that the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra continues to bet on this educational project of the Cabildo for another year and thanked the DISA Foundation for continuing to support this initiative, especially in times that are so difficult for culture.
And detailed that the programming will have a total of 49 functions (20 school concerts and six family concerts) distributed in three symphonic concerts, three small-format concerts, an early stimulation concert, a traveling concert and a training course-workshop for teachers.
It is, according to his words, "a different season, marked by restrictions and postponements, but this has not prevented us from continuing to invest in new productions, premieres or for the first time at the OFGC, as well as continuing with the proposal of our artistic director, Maestro Chichon, to offer support to young directors and directors.
For her part, the director of the DISA Foundation, Sara mateos, stressed that from the institution "we especially celebrate the beginning of this edition of the School Concerts, since despite the complexity of its management in these times conditioned by the health situation, little by little we must work to adapt to this new reality , to enjoy culture again and, above all, to be able to continue using music as a tool for education and enjoyment for our schoolchildren. "
The program will start this Wednesday 27 with the premiere of "I am Beethoven", in which the orchestra, directed by Bernat Gerard, will accompany the actor Toni Báez in a proposal in which he will give life to the immortal composer recommended for students from 12 to 16 years old.
The Philharmonic will also participate in two other symphonic concerts included in the season: "La Cirquesta", in which Rafael Sánchez-Araña will direct and The Circus Troupé collaborates, and "If the fish speak…", directed by Isabel Rubio and in collaboration with the Sandra Santa Cruz Dance Center.
In addition to these two shows, intended for Early Childhood and Primary Education students, the OFGC has prepared an early stimulation concert, called "Mute" and for babies from 0 to 36 months, one itinerant that will travel to various schools and three small ones .
"The Musician-Emotions", "En Canto de Mujer" and "El viaje de Matilda" are the names of those shows, dedicated not only to classical music but also to other styles such as jazz, in some cases.
