The boat "Open Arms", which disembarked yesterday to more than 300 immigrants in the port of Algeciras (Cádiz), has sailed this morning with destination to the port of Barcelona, according to Efe sources have informed of the NGO Proactiva Open Arms.
The ship, dedicated to rescue work in the central Mediterranean, located on December 21 to more than 300 immigrants off the coast of Libya, which finally moved to Spain after eight days of navigation and the authorities of Malta denied access to port and those of France and Italy did not respond to their requirements.
Proactiva Open Arms says that the trip to the port of Barcelona is the first step to continue with its humanitarian work and to "put everything ready for the first mission of 2019".
Among the 308 immigrants who arrived yesterday aboard the "Open Arms" were 137 minors, many of whom were unaccompanied and fleeing the war in Syria and Somalia.
Both the elderly and minors are being identified in the Temporary Care Center for Foreigners (CATE).
