Likewise, the Canary Islands registered 124 new cases of Covid-19 yesterday, the lowest number of daily infections of the past week except for the previous day, in which 110 new positives were computed in 24 hours. Until then, the general trend over the course of last week placed the average number of daily infections around 200 cases.
The vaccination schedule continues on the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife
On the other hand, the Canary Islands did not have to regret any death due to the virus yesterday, since the global balance of accumulated cases is 47,492 in the entire Archipelago, with 4,765 that remain active. In addition, in the last 24 hours a total of 2,000 PCR tests have been carried out, whose total number of tests carried out on the islands now amounts to 972,739.
The number of medical discharges in the Canary Islands is 42,048 and more than doubled have taken place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria -15,238 discharges compared to 7,738 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in second place-.
Regarding infections by the different islands, the figure experienced an increase in Tenerife and a decrease in Gran Canaria, while La Gomera and El Hierro yesterday added a new day without a single case, where the latter also remains at zero active cases.
Thus, Tenerife added 60 new cases yesterday – compared to 40 yesterday – with a total of 20,046 accumulated cases since the beginning of the pandemic and 2,491 active cases to date.
124 Daily Cases
- The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands yesterday notified 124 new cases of coronavirus, so the total accumulated cases is 47,492, with 4,765 active.
For its part, Gran Canaria added 45 new positives yesterday, which translates into 16 fewer cases compared to the previous day, in which 61 positives were computed. The island has accumulated a total of 19,675 cases since the beginning of the health crisis, with 1,902 active, below Tenerife, which leads the calculation of assets in the Canary Islands.
For its part, Lanzarote adds 14 new cases, with 4,668 accumulated and 83 epidemiologically active; while Fuerteventura has 2,096 accumulated cases and adds three more cases than the previous day, with 259 cases that remain active.
As for the islands that present a more favorable epidemiological scenario, marked by the level 1 health alert, La Palma adds two new cases and has 481 accumulated, of which 26 are still active; El Hierro does not add cases or accumulate assets, and its total balance of infections since last March 2020 is 300.
Finally, La Gomera does not add new cases either, so its accumulated remain at 225, with three assets.
The Archipelago did not have to mourn any death yesterday
All in all, the Accumulated Incidence (AI) at seven days in the Canary Islands stands at 54.28 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and at 14 days in 119.03 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
On the other hand, the health teams in the Canary Islands continued to advance yesterday in the vaccination schedule in the different devices enabled on the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife.
The Ministry of Health recalls the importance of attending the summons to receive the Covid-19 vaccine, since the calendar is organized according to the available vaccines and the target population to be vaccinated at all times, so any Cancellation or default may cause a mismatch in plans.
- Of the 4,765 active cases in the Canary Islands, 79 are admitted to the ICU and 302 remain hospitalized. In the last hours, no deaths from Covid-19 have been reported.
It should be remembered that the appointment for the vaccine in the non-capital islands is made by telephone call. In the capital cities, the group over 80 years old is cited through a phone call, while the 60 to 65 age group is being cited via sms, so they insist on remaining pending of these communications .
In all cases, the appointments are being made between 24 and 48 hours prior to the appointment, in order to make a calendar as closely as possible to the reality of the available doses, for which a call is made for citizen responsibility and go to that appointment.
