National traffic compensates for the fall ofinternational passengersat the aerodromes of the Islands. Theeight airportsCanaries registered 45,028,649 travelers during 2019, 0.6% less than in 2018. Of the total, 44,703,694 are commercial, representing a slight fall of 0.4% compared to the previous year. Despite this setback, last year it is positioned as the secondbest recordof its history thanks to the rise of the national traffic. Of the total number of commercial passengers, 18,193,947 correspond to domestic flights, reflecting a rise of 6.9% over the previous year, and 26,509,747 to the international, 4.9% less.

The airport facilities of Gran Canaria and Tenerife Sur occupy, at the end of this period, the sixth and seventh place, respectively, in passenger volume of thenetof Aena in Spain.

The number of travelers by airports during the past year is as follows: Gran Canaria, 13,261,405 (-2.3%); Tenerife South, 11,168,506 (+ 1.1%); Lanzarote, 7,292,720 (-0.5%); Tenerife North, with thebest data in its history, records 5,840,483 (+ 6.3%); Fuerteventura, 5,635,330 (- 7.9%); La Palma, 1,483,720 (+ 4.5%); El Hierro, 268,900 (+ 8.8%) and La Gomera, with 77,585 passengers and the largest percentage increase, 5.3% more.

The number ofoperations accounted forIt was 410,690, 1.4% less than the previous year, and 37,029 tons of merchandise were transported, occupying Gran Canaria and Tenerife North fifth and seventh place, respectively, between the airports of Aena in Spain with more cargo volume.
