The municipality of Arucas, pioneer in organizing an informative online campus – The Province

The Arucas City Council launches a pioneering initiative by organizing an online summer campus of eSports.. The situation of uncertainty caused by the coronavirus pandemic has created the need to search for alternative solutions to traditional campuses and summer camps. For this reason, the Department of Education, directed by Sebastián Guerra, is committed to the educational proposal resulting from the union of eMonkeyz Club, Grupo Edutech, and Esport Talent Canarias, who have promoted this project.

This offer will accommodate 100 children, 50 places for children under 12 years old and another 50 for older people who are registered in Arucas. The activities will take place in the week of July 13 to 17, July 20 to 24, and July 27 to 31, and will be at the free choice of those registered.

This is an online camp that, after the success of the #YoJuegoEnCasa tournament with eMonkeyz Club in which more than 5,000 young people participated, will offer families an educational alternative to take advantage of the summer and continue learning, while facilitating family reconciliation with telecommuting.

The campus will propose different activities with the aim of bringing professional electronic sports to the home of boys, girls and young people between 7 and 16 years old. The objective will be to have fun with your favorite activity while acquiring healthy life values and balance between body and mind, with the incorporation of a coach, a personal trainer and experts from different branches of the sector, always with the supervision of a monitor connected in real time with the children.

The camp can be followed entirely from home and will consist of different activities depending on the age group according to the PEGI regulations. Thus, two programs will be developed: Summer Camp +7 and Summer Camp +12.

Thus, children between the ages of 7 and 12 will have access to Clash Royale, Roblox and Minecraft, and the oldest will practice with League of Legends, Minecraft, Clash Royale and Fortnite. Teamwork, collaboration and problem solving are skills that will be worked on daily to improve the self-confidence of the participants, something that will undoubtedly underpin their growth and development. The program has the collaboration of eSports professionals from the professional league club eMonkeyz Club and Influencers and Streamers.
