The Elder Museum of Science today welcomes the celebration of the first Championship of eSports Unified Canary Islands. It is the second global tournament of electronic sports for integration. Last June, the Movistar eSports Center in Madrid already hosted a tournament of this modality.
As a novelty, the competition that takes place throughout the day in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria will be in the famous game of basketball NBA 2k19. Promoted by the Telefónica Foundation, Special Olympics Madrid, Canarian Sports Union Foundation of Las Palmas, Elder Museum of Science and Technology, PlayStation, and with the collaboration of Plena Inclusión Canarias, will have a total of 32 teams formed jointly by athletes from Full Inclusion Canary Islands and volunteers from Telefónica and Fundación Canaria Unión Deportiva Las Palmas, respectively.
In total, add the figure of 64 gamers who will compete playing the game NBA 2K19, plus another 28 Telefónica volunteers who will participate in refereeing the matches, as coaches of the teams and in the logistical support of the event.
From 10.30 am the first part of the championship will take place, which will last throughout the morning until the conclusion of the final, before 2:00 pm. All the sports unified have a regulation adapted to maintain a fair competition, healthy and, above all, integrating.
In this way, the Unified eSports will have a specific regulation that guarantees this philosophy during the celebration of the competition.
In addition to the championship, the Elder Museum will host training talks about eSports. At 11:10, Juan Pérez, from Cabinetes Dánae Psicología and Director of Aequor Games, will talk about eSports, as opportunities to build a better world outside of Sims.
Next, at 11.30 am, Milagros Brito, from the Fundación Canaria UD Las Palmas, you will discover "a team with values: eSports UDLP". At 11.50 am, Iván Alameda, from Special Olympics Madrid, will talk about "when we play, we are all equal". At 12.20, GC Liberty will discover the benefits of video games for deaf people.
At 12.30 there will be a round table where the trend of eSports in the social world will be openly discussed. Before concluding the table, a questionnaire on eSports will be held to those present at the Elder Museum to close the debate.
