GSMA, the organizer of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), will enable a 24-hour toll-free telephone to answer all those issues related to the coronavirus raised by those attending the salon, which will be held from February 24 to 27 in Barcelona.
This number, +34900772020, will be operational from February 12 to 29 and will appear on the back of the accreditations of the congressmen, in the application of the MWC and in the signage around the Fira.
This is one of the measures that the organization will take to help mitigate the spread of the virus in an event that aims to attract more than 100,000 attendees, many of them from Asia.
GSMA said Thursday that the impact of the coronavirus on the congress “remains minimal” and that it will be held “as planned.”
GSMA, the employer’s association of telecommunications companies around the world, explained in a statement that it continues to monitor and evaluate the potential impact of the coronavirus in the room, which will continue as planned at the Gran Vía and Montjuïc fairgrounds, as will the parallel events YoMo and Four Years From Now (4YFN).
“Spain, the city of Barcelona and the GSMA hope to welcome the attendees of the MWC Barcelona 2020,” say the organizers of the congress, which this year will not be attended by the South Korean multinational LG as a preventive measure against the outbreak of coronavirus.
Faced with this situation, public administrations, GSMA and health authorities have stressed that they will maintain “permanent coordination” and that various measures will be implemented to help mitigate the spread of the virus, including advice: avoid handshakes to greet each other. .
The Mobile organization will also make health guides and hygienic recommendations available to interested parties in the hotels and means of transport in the city, and notes that the relevant advice has been given to brands on how to clean and disinfect their spaces.
