It will be next May 20 when he disembarks at the Teatro Calderón in Valladolid the gala of the Max Awards of Performing Arts, the greatest recognition of the talent of professionals of Spanish theater and dance. A "must" appointment in the city, according to the mayor of Valladolid, Óscar Puente, during the presentation of this event, which also had the presence of the president of the SGAE, Ana Graciani.
For this XXII edition a total of 359 shows as well as more than 3,000 Performing Arts professionals -with a notable increase in peripheral theater- and will be next February 14 when it reveals on behalf of the candidates. In addition, the three special prizes are kept: the Max de Honor, the Max amateur or social character and the Max of the public.
The motto for this year is that of the «freedom festival», since as Graciani pointed out «a society without full freedom in its artistic expressions, is condemned to be a sick society». Therefore, he stressed the fundamental support of public institutions in the development of culture, for which he thanked the City of Valladolid for its involvement in hosting the largest national festival of theater, while congratulating that the appointment is in the Theater Calderón, because every time the professionals act in it, "we do it with a lot of responsibility".
A gala that will coincide with the 20th anniversary of the remodeling of the Calderón Theater in Valladolid and on the same dates in which the International Festival of Street Theater will take place. "This is the first time that Castilla y León has hosted these awards and it is in Valladolid, which has amply demonstrated that we are a theater city," remarked Óscar Puente, who also pointed out that the capital has six open theaters and that "here It makes a cultural commitment that is very coherent and always based on quality ".
