This Saturday, December 8 will be held the seventh edition of Maspalomas Open Water, whose test queen of 2,000 meters will gather 500 swimmers.
The event will be the last round of the Canarias de Aguas Abiertas Cup and the Open Water Series Circuits, as highlighted in its presentation today, with the presence of the lieutenant of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Hall, Elena Álamo; Councilor for Sports, Roberto Martel; of the manager of the Insular Institute of Sports of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Alfredo Gonçalves, and of its producer, Pablo González Cardona, of the company Top Time Eventos.
The maximum limit of registered for the 2,000 meters test has been set at 500 places – there are already 400 registered and everything indicates that they will be completed – while for the 1,000 meters it is 200.
Both distances will target the Maspalomas Lighthouse area, leaving the 2,000 meters from Meloneras and the 1,000 meters from the area of the Charca de Maspalomas.
This Thursday, September 6, between 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the numbers will start to be handed out to the participants in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, an event that will also take place on Friday at the Maspalomas Lighthouse, the nerve center of the event, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
Next Saturday, from 12.00, will take place the technical meeting of the participants of 2,000 meters, then immediately proceed to the joint heating of both distances.
At 12.20 pm, the swimmers of the 2,000 meter test will start at the Meloneras beach, which will start at 1.15 pm, while at 14.00 hours the 1,000 meter competition will begin.
The culmination of this event will take place from 2.45 pm on the same Saturday, with the awards ceremony and a subsequent musical performance.
