The 80th edition of the Madrid Book Fair will be held between September 10 and 26, as decided by its organizing committee, made up of publishers, distributors and bookstores, out of responsibility and precaution against the coronavirus pandemic.
As reported by the organization on Wednesday, the Fair, which usually takes place in June, will take place three months later “as long as the social and health conditions are met that allow it to be held in person, under the relevant capacity controls, and preserving the health of visitors and exhibitors “.
“The principles of responsibility and precaution lead us to make this determination in order to have the best possible scenario, in El Retiro Park, for the celebration of the 80th edition (# FLMadrid21),” the organization indicated.
The 79th edition of the Madrid Book Fair was not installed last year in El Retiro and was transferred to social networks between October 2 and 18, 2020, after its celebration was suspended in June due to the coronavirus.
Among the commemorative events of the next edition, a graphic History of the Fair is already being worked on, from 1933 to the present day, “whose debut will take place in a central act of the program,” the organization has indicated.
With a view to the new calendar, the raffle for the booths is expected to take place at the end of April; the presentation of the poster (which will be the work of an illustrator), next June; and the act to make the programming public, in early September.
“Sensitive to the current national situation in the world of books and the post-COVID-19 future, the Fair 2021 project wishes to focus on the hope of rebuilding our creative and cultural industries, which have been encouraged and encouraged since last year with slogans such as #laculturaenpie and # Apoyoatulibrería “, highlights the Fair, which confirms that Colombia will be the guest of honor in this edition.
