The life and work of César Manrique will sound in the main theaters of the Canary Islands from September on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of the artist from Lanzarote. Associates in a co-production regime, the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council, the César Manrique Foundation -which will incorporate the production to its extensive program of the event that will be held next April-, the Las Palmas Theater Auditorium Foundation Gran Canaria, Mestisay and Clapso Theatrical Productions join forces to raise César Manrique, the musical.
Hand in hand with Manolo González is this original script that will be "an integral show", as he explains, "in which different times and environments will appear where César developed his work and his life", among others Lanzarote, New York or Madrid, and will have a strong claim component around the environmental values that Manrique defended.
Some of the songs in the musical will be hits of Canarian author song related to the landscape value and the binomial art and nature that the Lanzarote artist elaborated throughout his life, and others will be songs written for production.
With the musical direction of German Arias, the musical premieres in September at the Pérez Galdós Theater, with ten performances, and with touring other theaters of the Islands.
The first week of April will take place in Gran Canaria the castings of César Manrique, the musical for the selection of actors, dance singers and choir that will make up the artistic staff, open to professionals and amateurs. The selection and the place will be announced shortly in the Facebook profiles of the production and the pages of Mestisay and Clapso Producciones.
