The Futura Radio oozed anger and modernity, impudence and insolence in that work. The Future Radio of Javier Furia oozed the future and looked for the melodies as ascending air currents. Then they planned them to the ground with concrete nouns and clothing on Saturday night. How many groups today would give a finger for knowing how to copy them without being noticed. Yesterday Javier Pérez Grueso died, better known as Javier Furia, an original member of the group (with his death and that of Javier Sierra, two of the founding members have already left) that inaugurated the Movida. But his case was paradigmatic for several reasons. The first: How could someone who was on the founding disc, but before in Alaska and the Pegamoides and who was later an "honorary member" of Kaka de Luxe, perhaps not the first punk group to the Spanish, could not be a central figure of the Movida? -? Someone who also collaborated with the first Almodóvar! And who later recorded with Paco Clavel. Because if something was the Movement, and this is indisputable, it is an attitude and a spirit, if we have concluded that his works were more or less futile, that that remains to be seen. As Javier Furia was the embodiment of that language outside, I don't care, of a great "I can't stand you anymore". His role was not the protagonist but that of precipitator of some exciting times, those of the 80s in Madrid. It was one of those personalities necessary for the rest to emerge magically. And, perhaps, its apparent lack of prominence is what I put in an archetypal place of the cultural movement to which it belonged: some say fatuous, but it would be that they were not there or did not have a talk with Javier Furia. Because, after music, he cultivated creation for the pleasure of doing it, for the need to convey his feelings. He turned to the plastic arts in the footsteps of Herminio Molero, alma mater of Radio Futura, because he found in that language the most suitable for his torrential creativity. Santiago Auserón reminded him on Facebook in this way: «I woke up with the very bad news of the death of Javier Pérez Grueso, who was a roommate for rehearsal, study, travel and tables for some time. I met him in a Madrid nightclub disguised as an atomic butterfly dressed in meshes and silver cardboard wings, covered in glitter ». However, he showed some bitterness: «He was always cheerful, provocative and close. He left the first Radio Futura formation without a grudge, as far as I know. We didn't see each other again until the trial about the lawsuit around the group's name. He was the usual Javier, spicy, courteous and affectionate. I didn't see him anymore, I'm sorry today ». After the first album, Javier Furia and Herminio Molero abandoned the project they had actually led, Radio Futura took another course, and later took ownership of the brand. But who cares about brands when we talk about an artist.
