The Kospi of the Seoul Stock Exchange ends with an advance of 0.07%

The Seoul Stock Exchange closed today with an advance of 0.07% in its main indicator, the Kospi, in a minimal rise because there is still concern in the market for COVID-19.

The Kospi rose 1.46% to 2,210.34 integers at the close, while the Kosdaq technology index gained 0.27% or 1.86 points, to 684.78 units.

According to analysts, the almost flat closure of Kospi is motivated by the uncertainty that still exists about the progress of the coronavirus that was detected last January in the Chinese city of Wuhan and that in China alone has caused more than 2,000 deaths.

Among the reference securities in the Seoul stock market, Samsung Electronics advanced 0.67% and SK Hynix, the world's second largest microchip manufacturer, gained 1.47%.

In other sectors, Hyundai Motor lost 0.75% and its subsidiary Kia Motors fell 0.12%. In the chemical sector, LG Chem collapsed 3.35%, while the pharmaceutical company Celltrion fell 1.63%.
