The keys to the new subsidy for long-term unemployed over 52 years - La Provincia

The newsubsidy for unemployed over 52 yearshas entered this Wednesday into force, after publishing this Tuesday in the Official State Gazette (BOE) the decree law that regulates it. However,the increase of the quotation from 100% to 125% of the minimum base will take effect on April 1.

What is the decree law?

The decree law, approved last Friday by the Council of Ministers,lowers the age of access to this subsidy from the current 55 years to 52 years; it eliminates the requirement to be 52 years old at the time of the causal event and eliminates the percentages applicable to the amount of the subsidy when the beneficiary comes from a part-time job.

What is the amount of the aid?

The subsidy consists of a monthly payment of430 euros.

What changes with the new regulation?

According to the norm, the subsidy increases its maximum duration, sincecan be perceived until the fulfillment of the ordinary retirement age, compared to the previous regulation, which obliged to stop charging it at the moment in which any contributory retirement method could be accessed, thus leading to forced early retirements.

At the same time, the new regulationeliminates the consideration of the income of the family unit for access to the subsidyandincreases the retirement contribution during the period from 100% to 125% of the minimum contribution basecurrent in each moment.

Who will it benefit?

The Government calculates that the modifications introduced in the subsidywill benefit almost 380,000 people(114,000 who will now be able to access it, 265,465 who will see their contributions improved and 12,000 people who currently receive the subsidy partially and will receive it full-time).

When will it cost?

The estimated cost of this subsidy reform is about348 million euros.

Other bonuses of the royal decree

On the other hand,bonuses for long-term unemployedand the conversion of temporary contracts of agrarian workers in indefinite or fixed-discontinuous contracts contemplated in the decree law will come into effect on April 1.

In the case oflong-term unemployed, the company contribution will be reduced by 1,300 euros per year for three years to companies that hire indefinitely unemployed persons registered in the SEPE for at least 12 months in the 18 months prior to hiring.

The bonus will be 1,500 euros per year if the contracted one is a woman. With this "plus" for thewomenit seeks to alleviate the labor gap, since of the total of 1.32 million long-term unemployed, 64% are women.

The other bonus contained in the decree law is aimed at those companies that transform, before January 1, 2020, temporary contracts signed withworkers employed by the special agrarian system in contracts of indefinite duration, including fixed-discontinuous.

The amount of this bonus, which will last two years, will be 480 euros per year for the conversion of the contracts of workers framed in group 1 that have a monthly contribution base lower than 1,800 euros. In the case of women, the bonus will be 640 euros per year.

The improvement of family benefits of Social Security and social protection in the future will also come into force on April 1.maritime-fishing sectorcontemplated in the decree.
