The jury considers the trafficker responsible for the three deaths and estimates that he also tried to take the lives of six survivors on their dates with cocaine in their genitals. The verdict opens his sentence to reviewable permanent prison

The most expensive verdict in the most painful and intricate criminal case in the recent history of the Valencian Community comes to an end. The jury has found Colombian trafficker Jorge Ignacio Palma guilty of the murders of Arliene Ramos, Lady Marcela and Marta Calvo.

They are the women with whom he arranged sexual dates in 2019 and who lost their lives after the encounters due to cocaine intoxication. In the case of the young woman from Estivella, her body could not be located. Technically, she is still missing to the pain and despair of her parents.

Arliene Ramos is the 33-year-old Brazilian who died after an encounter with the accused in a whorehouse in Valencia on April 24, 2019. In her case, the verdict was guilty of the crime of murder. In addition, the jury finds him guilty of violating her sexual freedom with his practice of cocaine and guilty of the crime of drug trafficking.

The second woman killed is Lady Marcela, a 26-year-old Colombian who lost her life after meeting Jorge Ignacio in Valencia on June 14, 2019. In relation to her, the jury has issued another guilty verdict of murder. As for sexual abuse, of which he was also accused, the verdict was guilty. In the crime of drug trafficking, also guilty.

And finally, regarding Marta Calvo, with a sexual date dated November 7, 2019, the defendant has been found guilty of the crime of murder. As for the sexual crime, the verdict has been guilty and in drug trafficking, equally guilty. In Marta's case, Jorge Ignacio was also accused of damaging the moral integrity of the young woman's parents and, at this point, the jury's decision was to find him guilty.

Decisions about survivors

In addition, the popular court has estimated that the man tried to take the lives of six surviving women after encounters with the suspect between the summer of 2018 and the end of 2019. In the case of the women who were intoxicated with cocaine but survived the accusation of sexual abuse that weighed on Jorge has resulted in six guilty verdicts. These appointments, which he raised under the name of 'white parties', took place in Valencia, l'Olleria and Manuel.

The appearance of the nine titular members of the jury for the reading of the verdict has taken place after five in the afternoon of this July 22, after four days of costly deliberations behind closed doors and without communication. In all this time, the jury has reflected on the 700 questions raised in 143 pages on each possible crime and in each of the cases, one of the most voluminous verdict objects in judicial history.

During the prolonged reading of the verdict, the tension has flooded a packed Tirant Hall of the City of Justice. As planned, one of the members of the jury has read the decisions and votes when declaring the proven or unproven facts and the guilt of Jorge Ignacio, as well as the pronouncements on his mental state at the time of the meetings and the concurrent circumstances in each case.

The structure of the object of the verdict has followed a chronological order, the same in which the alleged events occurred and the same in which each case has been analyzed in the trial sessions: the first two survivors, two of the deceased (Arliene Ramos and Lady Marcela), five other survivors and, finally, Marta Calvo. The final session of the trial for the reading of the verdict has lasted for almost two hours, with a recess included.

The defendant now faces a reviewable permanent prison sentence, a request made for each of the murder crimes. The magistrate will have to be the one who now dictates the sentence imposed on Jorge Ignacio Palma. During the reading of the verdict, which unraveled one by one all his crimes and made him a serial killer, the defendant was undaunted, cold and without showing a single emotion. If the process does not change him, he will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
