The Minister of Health of the Junta de Castilla y León, Verónica Casado, announced this Monday the confinement of León and Palencia capital, given the data on hospital occupancy, positivity rate and accumulated incidence. Although Palencia does not reach 100,000 inhabitants, the autonomous government has chosen to impose the measure.
The mobility restrictions will begin this Tuesday and will initially last 14 days. Starting tomorrow, you will not be able to enter or leave the municipality without a justified reason, such as work or elderly care reasons. At the moment, the legal services of the Junta de Castilla y León are addressing from what time the closure of the capitals will be decreed.
Casado has already communicated to the mayor of León, José Antonio Díez (PSOE) and the mayor of Palencia, Mario Simón (Citizens) of the Board’s decision. Palencia was already under some restrictions since last September 24, although they mainly affected leisure, hospitality and family gatherings.
