The judge of the National Court who instructs the piece ‘Kitchen’ has agreed this Tuesday that a confrontation be carried out between the former Minister of the Interior Jorge Fernández Díaz and the one who was his ‘number two’ Francisco Martínez, as El Mundo has advanced.
The magistrate wants both of them to clarify the role they played in the parapolice operation financed with funds reserved to obtain compromising documentation for the PP that the former party treasurer Luis Bárcenas had in his possession.
The confrontation, confirmed by legal sources to Europa Press, comes after the head of the Central Court of Instruction number 6, Manuel García-Castellón, heard the two former high-ranking Interior officials last week and verified that their versions did not coincide. In fact, Fernández Díaz denied that he had sent an SMS with Martínez, just one day after he confirmed them in court.
Likewise, the magistrate agrees to cite as a witness the former director of the Cabinet for Coordination and Studies of the Secretary of State for Security at the time of the operation, Colonel of the Civil Guard Diego Pérez de los Cobos.
