The INE show street by street income levels – La Provincia

The National Institute of Statistics (INE) has started publishing on Wednesday on its website the 'Experimental Statistics' section, which will show the progress made in different aspects of statistical production and the distribution of household income for geographical areas of more than 500 inhabitants, being able to select any street in Spain.

The first project incorporated into this section is theAtlas of Household Income Distribution(ADRH), which consists of the construction of statistical indicators of average income and their distribution at the municipal and infra-municipal level, based on the INE population information link with tax data, mainly from the Tax Agency (AEAT), but also from the regional estates of the Basque Country and Navarra.

The Atlas contains income data for 2015 and 2016, combined with the resident population as of January 1, 2016 and 2017, respectively. This information, even in experimental phase, is offered for municipalities, districts and census tracts, provided they exceed certain thresholds in terms of number of inhabitants.

The ADRH offers information on average income (per person and per household) for geographic areas with more than 100 inhabitants, which implies having data for more than 99.8% of the population residing in Spain.

Another novelty is that (except for Basque Country and Navarra) will also offer income distribution information (population below certain absolute and relative income thresholds), provided that the geographical area exceeds 500 inhabitants.

For areas of more than 2,500 inhabitants, it will publish these indicators disaggregated by sex, age groups and nationality (Spanish / foreigners), which allows a "very detailed" analysis of the distribution of household income in Spain, states Statistics.

Specifically, it will be possible to access inframunicipal information of average income per person, average income per household, percentage of population with income per unit of consumption less than 7,500 euros, population under 18 years of age and population over 65 years of age, among other data.
