The exhibition hall Oda al Atlántico, at the IES Doramas, in Moya, will host until November 12 the exhibition El viento y el azar, a tribute to the creative universe of Martín Chirino, in the year of the first anniversary of the artist’s death. that arises from the Intercentros en Red project: A different look.
The exhibition, which has been organized in collaboration with the Martín Chirino Art and Thought Foundation and the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival, has been designed to bring a part of the art and thought of the Gran Canaria sculptor to schools.
The director of this entity, Jesús María Castaño, visited the installation last week, which exhibits a set of pieces resulting from the first meeting of the students of the Valsequillo and Doramas IES, two of the four educational centers (CEO Mogán and CEO Tejeda) that participate in this initiative. It is the first traveling exhibition created by students within the framework of this project.
The involvement of these two institutes in the dissemination of the sculptor’s work and the commitment acquired for the dissemination of the Canarian cultural and artistic heritage and the promotion of artistic vocations has been recognized by the president of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Marta Chirino, in a thank you letter sent to the management teams of both centers.
In The Wind and Chance, the great protagonist is the spiral. The works represent wind spirals that arise from spontaneity and chance in the light of the decalcoming technique, contributed by the surrealist from the Canary Islands Óscar Domínguez.
The exhibition will remain open to the public during school hours until November 12. Capacity limitations make it necessary to request a previous appointment for the visit, in which the pedagogical interest will prevail.
Intercentros en Red was born with the purpose of bringing the artistic fact closer to educational centers located in rural settings.
