The ICHH promotes blood donation in Ingenio

Two temporary donation points will be enabled in the municipality until September 20


Canary Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH)dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, has launched a new blood donation campaign in Ingenio to promote blood donation among residents and visitors of this municipality of Gran Canaria.

During this week and until
next september 14a mobile blood donation unit will remain operational on Avenida Carlos V de Carrizal, next to the Citizen Attention Office, from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., except Thursday 8, which will be closed as it is a holiday.

As of Thursday, September 15, another hemodonation team will move to the headquarters of the Los Molinillos Neighborhood Association, located on Doramas street without a number, where it will be operational on Thursday 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. :00 to 8:45 p.m., Friday 16 and Monday 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., and Tuesday 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. :15 hours.

The ICHH reminds the population of the need to donate blood every three or four months, with a maximum of three donations a year for women and four for men, to guarantee the stock of blood products at the Canary Transfusion Center. Right now,
donations from all groups, especially O+ and B-, are needed to meet the hospital demand.

The ICHH reminds that people vaccinated against covid-19, with both one and two doses and the booster dose, can donate blood after 48 hours of inoculation.

Fixed points in Gran Canaria

In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria you can donate blood and platelets at the Provincial Bank of the ICHH on calle Alfonso XIII, number 4, from Monday to Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. ( except holidays). It has a ford reserved for donors.

In the southeast region, Santa Lucía de Tirajana has a fixed donation point at the Neighborhood Health Center, on Calle Guatiza, no number. Donor service hours this week are Monday through Wednesday from 5:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 10:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

You can also donate without an appointment at the fixed points of the Canarian Transfusion Network in the hospitals of the Canary Health Service. At the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; at the Maternal and Child University Hospital of the Canary Islands, from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and at the Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria from Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., except holidays. All of them have a ford reserved for donors.
