The Canarian Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH), dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, will deploy different operations next week in the municipalities of La Oliva, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Telde, Ingenio, Firgas, San Bartolomé de Tirajana, La Aldea de San Nicolás, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Adeje and La Victoria de Acentejo, in addition to the fixed points available throughout the Archipelago, to bring blood donation closer to the public before Easter.
The ICHH reminds the population that in the Canary Islands 300 daily donations are needed to meet the needs of hospitalsTherefore, it is necessary to maintain a constant rate of donations to guarantee the stock of blood products at the Canarian Transfusion Center.
Requirements for donation
The basic requirements are to have between 18 and 65 years old, in good general health, weighing more than 50 kilos and, in the case of women, not be pregnant. In addition, in the current circumstances, specific requirements related to the protection protocol against Covid-19 must be met, which are: not to present pictures of cough or respiratory symptoms, not having been diagnosed or having been in contact with people affected by Covid-19 and not having traveled outside the Canary Islands in the last 14 days.

Where to donate blood in Fuerteventura
The municipality of La Oliva will host a new temporary donation point at the Fuerteventura Norte Senior Center on Monday, located in Calle Milagrosa number 49 in Corralejo. The hours of attention to donors will be Monday from 5.15 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. and Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m., upon request for an appointment by filling in the form published on the website efectodonacion.com.

In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria As of Wednesday, a new temporary donation room will be set up in the 7 Palmas Shopping and Leisure Center, located on Pintor Felo Monzón avenue number 44, in a place on the second floor, in front of the McDonald’s. Donor service hours are from 8.45 to 14.00 and from 15.45 to 21.00.
Besides, the Naval Base and Arsenal of Las Palmas located at 310 León y Castillo street, hosts on Tuesday 23 throughout the day a device of the ICHH to facilitate the donation of blood to the members of the base.

Finally eOn Saturday 27 an extraordinary collection will be held in the municipality of La Aldea de San Nicolás. Two ICHH teams will attend to all those interested in donating blood at the Senior Center, located on Calle Real number 3 (in front of la Caixa), from 10:00 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. and from 3:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m..
Regarding the fixed points, the Provincial Bank of Las Palmas located in calle Alfonso XIII number 4 in the capital of Gran Canaria remains open Monday to Friday from 8:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and from 3:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. and it has a parking ford reserved for donors.
To donate at all these points it is necessary to request an appointment.
You can also donate at fixed points in the Canarian Transfusion Network on the Island without the need for an appointment. In the case of Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín attends to donors from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.; at Maternal-Infant University Hospital from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and in the Insular University Hospital of Gran Canaria, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. All these points have parking spaces reserved for donors and are closed on public holidays.
Where to donate blood in Tenerife
The campaign at the University of La Laguna celebrates its last week in the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The first stop will be at the Santa Cruz Campus, where blood can be donated on Monday, March 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Study Room of the Naval Nautical, Machinery and Radioelectronics Section located in the Auxiliar de Paso Alto road in the capital of Tenerife.
And finally The Ofra Campus will host a donation point on March 23 and 24, in the Board Room and Vice-Dean of Quality, Medicine Section, which will attend donors on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 : 30 to 13:30 hours.

On the other hand, in the rooms of the Canarian Transfusion Network in the hospitals of Tenerife you can donate without prior appointment. The extraction unit of the Hospital Universitario de Canarias is open from Sunday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. You can park in the Parking La Multa for only € 1 24 hours a day proving the donation.
